John “Crash” Matos was born in 1961 in Bronx, New York.  As early as 13, Matos was painting graffiti on New York’s subways.  Transferring his bold luminous colors to canvas, metal, wood and silk screen, he is now regarded as a pioneer of the Graffiti art movement.  By the 1980’s his work was exhibited world wide.
